Russian Road Trip
August 2018

Привет москва

My dad had the crazy project to cross the most extensive territory of planet Earth: the federal state Russia with an area of 17 000 000 km2 and 11 time zones. A trip that led me to join him 10 days in the capital after his 3 months of homelessness. This challenge was eventually cut short by the different encounters made on his way. These rich experiences have certainly delayed the course, but it is only to revive the challenge soon!

Here is an overview of the 9,000 km complete route, illustrated by a map showing the iconic railway of Russia from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.

This trip was an opportunity for me to join my dad and my beautiful mother in the Russian capital. It was an opportunity to visit the famous Red Square, with the Kremlin, the mausoleum of Lenin, the Cathedral Basil the Blessed, the bell of Tsar Kolokol, or the Bolshoi Theater, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Gum, the Gorky Park, the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, the Astronautics Museum, the ancient Arbat Street, the gigantic Izmailovo Market, the grandiose Elisseyev delicatessen, or the Moscow Metro.

This short stay was a real change of scenery because of the cultural and architectural diversity of the city. The striking contrast between a very hard, straight, and strident Stalinist architecture facing a colorful, wavy Orthodox culture architecture. It is indeed what the cathedral Basil the Blessed demonstrates by its archetype of Russian architecture. This beautiful architectural gem is without a doubt what marked me the most during my trip.

I also had the opportunity to be interviewed in the Park Gorky by Russian television, asking me about my visit and my feelings about Park Gorky and Moscow in general.

Here is an excerpt from my stay in Moscow in photos and videos.
